This 2-hour Forestry First Aid module is designed to equip individuals working in forestry, woodland, and outdoor environments with the specific skills necessary to handle injuries and emergencies in remote, often challenging conditions.
Course Content Includes:

Assessing the Scene: Learn how to safely evaluate an outdoor emergency and ensure the area is secure to prevent further injury to yourself or the casualty.

Resuscitation & CPR: Master life-saving techniques for resuscitation and CPR for adults, children, and infants, ensuring you're prepared to act swiftly in an isolated setting.

Wound Management: Gain the skills to treat severe bleeding, punctures, and lacerations commonly encountered in forestry work, with an emphasis on stabilising injuries before professional help arrives.

Crush Injuries and Haemostatic Dressings: Learn to recognise and manage crush injuries, ensuring the casualty is stabilised and not further harmed. Gain the skills to apply haemostatic dressings to control severe bleeding, promoting clotting until professional help arrives.

Shock Management: Learn to identify the signs of shock and apply appropriate first aid measures to stabilise the casualty in a remote location.

Poisoning & Bites: Gain knowledge on treating poisoning, insect bites, and stings that are common in outdoor and forestry environments.

Outdoor Scene Management: Learn the techniques for managing casualties in remote areas, including how to safely transport them until professional medical help arrives.

This optional 2-hour module can be added to any first aid course for those working in forestry, providing essential training to ensure you're fully prepared to handle emergencies in the field. Note: A valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certification is required to enrol in this module.
